Happy Friday ✨ I have found the spark to continue with my WIP. I am planning to pick up the pace and get the first draft done. 🔸Reading update🔸 Just finished listening to Lightlark by Alex Aster and Good girl, Bad blood by Holly Jackson. Lightlark was good in terms of the setting, characters (some) and the final twist. But it was not my cup of tea. Good girl, Bad blood was just as interesting as the first book in the series ✨ Can't wait to read the next book❣️ Currently reading: ▫️The beekeeper of Aleppo by Christy Lefteri ▫️A woman is no man by Etaf Rum ▫️Nevernight by Jay Kristoff 🔹Writing update🔹 Tried a new writing exercise🤓 More about that later😄 Finalized my story idea for the next short film script (Just drafts I write to practice script writing) There are so many fun things happening in general and let me just say one thing - keep going. Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 "A torch against the night" is a perfect sequel. 🔸The book picks right up after where "An ember in the ashes" left. We follow Elais and Laia on their quest to free Darin. The stakes are high and the troubles brewed by Keris Venturia are as vile as her. 🔹The characters have beautiful arc established as the story progresses. Both Elais and Laia are facing their own fights. ▪️ Elais is facing the consequences of the deaths he caused previously and he himself is struggling with a serious problem(spoiler). ▪️ Laia is constantly at the position to make decisions which makes her doubt whether her decisions makes it worse for other people. 🔹They both constantly face with near death experience as the empire is on the hunt for them. They manage to struggle through all this to free Darin who is the only hope for the scholars to fight against the martials. Even with all this chaos they choose humanity and save others which can be seen in so many instances. 🔸Despite that being a trope that makes us fed up with most MCs, we find ourselves rooting for them. Both Elais and Laia are likeable even though they are you are typical main character who wants the good to win. There is something different about them. 🔹Helene deserves a special mention. She has lost a lot and she suffers so much throughout the book. She is torn between hunting down Elais and staying loyal to the empire. And she is resilient. I really hope she doesn't suffer more in the next books.
